DBMS (Database Management System)
A Database Management System (DBMS) is a software system that enables users to create, manage, and manipulate databases. Types of DBMS

i) Hierarchical DBMS:

Use Cases: Suitable for applications with a clear hierarchical structure, like organizational charts or file systems.
ii) Network DBMS:
Structure: Similar to the hierarchical model but allows more complex relationships with multiple parent nodes.
Example: Integrated Data Store (IDS).
Use Cases: Used in situations where relationships are more complex than those in a hierarchical structure, such as telecommunications.
iii) Relational DBMS (RDBMS):
Structure: Data is stored in tables (relations), and relationships between tables are defined through keys.
Examples: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server.
Use Cases: Most widely used in applications that require structured data storage, such as banking, inventory management, and customer relationship systems.
iv) Object-Oriented DBMS (OODBMS):
Structure: Data is stored in objects, similar to how objects are used in object-oriented programming.
Example: Object DB, db4o.
Use Cases: Used in applications where the data has complex structures or needs to be represented as objects, such as CAD/CAM systems and multimedia applications.
Importance of DBMS
Data Integrity: DBMS ensures data accuracy and consistency by enforcing integrity constraints (such as primary keys, foreign keys) and validation rules. This prevents errors and ensures data reliability.
Data Security: It provides controlled access to the data by implementing user authentication and authorization mechanisms. This ensures that only authorized users can access or modify the data.
Efficient Data Retrieval: DBMS optimizes queries and indexes to ensure that data can be retrieved quickly, even from large datasets.
Data Redundancy Control: DBMS eliminates data redundancy by organizing data in a way that minimizes unnecessary repetition and reduces storage requirements.
